When you get invited to spend time with a great friend and cross something off your bucket list, you just say yes. The beautiful and talented Brit Gill asked me to meet her in Big Sur and it was heaven. After a long and stressful week, I quickly packed up and drove up the coast. The drive took about six hours from LA so for those of you who love driving, do it! Belting to every Mariah classic solo is priceless. You could fly up to San Jose or Monterey airport but solitude is just what I needed before embarking on a 3 day adventure with this chipmunk. all photos by Britney Gill
There are many articles and blog posts you can read about Big Sur but the ones that really inspired our trip were The Fresh Exchange and Rx-SoJourn. If you are planning a trip there anytime soon, I highly recommend reading through these two posts. Our adventures are down below! My tip is to stop along the way, whether it is on a blog post or not – every corner in this area is absolutely stunning so you will never take a wrong turn.
Nepenthe – we had a few appies and some prosecco cause you know…#yolo. you are really coming here for the view. while the wait to sit on the patio may take an hour, they have the cutest waiting area, with long benches and pillows everywhere. you don’t come here to rush through the experience, so just relax and enjoy it.
Post Ranch Inn – I DIE. we had a 3 course meal overlooking the most beautiful view I have ever laid my eyes on. Our lunch was $55 with a $29 wine pairing – worth every single penny. the pictures don’t even do it justice. an absolute must!
Bixby Bridge – Swamped with a bunch of ants but it’s a must do – you’re there, might as well stop for the photo opp.
Pfeiffer State Park Beach – the sand is purple – nuff said. barney would have a field day.
McWay Falls – this was absolutely breathtaking. it’s on many bucket lists for a reason.
