tips from a skin care guru + my go-to glowing skin smoothie

Iceland, Belgium, Paris – it’s all been SO much fun, but one thing is for sure, it’s taken a toll on my skin. Travel combined with harsh weather conditions has made my skin incredibly dry and I am even breaking out in some areas. It’s making me wish my skin care guru, Amanda from Glow Dermal Therapy, lived in LA so I could pay her a visit ASAP.

Since turning 28 almost a year ago, I’ve seen a noticeable difference in my skin – it gets dry easily + and crow’s feet and brown spots around my eyes are definitely there – I guess fake and baking all those years ago is finally catching up with me. So I started wearing sun screen and using adult products like, exfoliators. Two months ago, when I was in Vancouver last, I was able to pay Amanda a visit and OMG. Now, I get it. What a difference one session can make. It’s hard to put into words how I felt leaving her salon, or how I felt waking up the next morning. Things I had never noticed about my skin, I now noticed because they were completely gone, or had significantly improved – like my pores. I never even realized I had pores until I actually didn’t have them anymore. My cheeks were plump and smooth, and no signs of pores whatsoever. When I woke up the next morning, I felt like my skin had just reverse aged 10-15 years. I didn’t feel the need to put tinted moisturizer on- I felt like one of those girls that just woke up, #flawless. It made me realize how often I look in the mirror, and cringe at how tired my skin looks, and feel the need to quickly cover it up with foundation and a ton of concealer – dark circles are a real b*tch. If you are in the Vancouver area, do yourself a favor and book an appointment with her ASAP – it will 1000% transform your skin. One session with Amanda and a few tips from her, and my skin looked flawless for…well, basically a few days into my Iceland trip. And no one is immune to hail storms, wind storms and white walkers freezing kind of temperatures! My facial was completely customized – it included a cleanse, extractions, target nutrients blends, massage and LED mask. The red light boosts collagen and the blue light fights acne – I got both, but mostly the red light.

Amanda’s top 3 skin care tips to transform your skin today: 

1) Exfoliate using fruit based enzymes – Amanda likes Polish and Purify by Osmosis
2) Drink water or Herbal Beauty Infusion, at least 2.5 litres a day
3) Add a water-based serum into your current routine- hyaluronic acid is able to penetrate deeper into the skin than an oil or moisturizer

I also wanted to share my go-to skin care smoothie. Once I am home and back into my routine, this is the first thing I will do every morning to nourish my skin from within. For those of you who follow me on Instagram stories, you’ve probably seen me make this one several times, and as promised – here it is!

Glowing Skin Smoothie:

1 banana

1 cup of blueberries

1-2 pitted dates

handful of kale leaves

4-6 walnuts

sprinkle bee pollen

teaspoon of coconut oil

1 teaspoon of MoonJuice’s Beauty Dust

1/3 cup of Vital Proteins’ Collagen Beauty Greens
